- General Information
- ===================
-
- This is the latest version of TakeOne for Windows. It includes a few small
- improvements. I have tried to keep this version as compatible as possible
- with the following exceptions :-
-
-
- 1: Game Extension
- -----------------
-
- The new default extension for games saved with TakeOne is ".TO" Older
- versions of the program used ".GAM"
-
- If you have any old games saved that you wish to use with the new version of
- the program you should rename these so that they have the extension ".TO"
- You can explicitly enter a file with the extension ".GAM" when restoring a
- a game, but these old files will not appear in the new Game:Restore dialog
- box.
-
-
- 2: .INI Information
- ------------------
-
- The previous versions of TakeOne store initialisation and colour information
- in the Windows standard file WIN.INI To help reduce the clutter and size of
- this file TakeOne now saves it's information in a private file called
- TAKEONE.INI
-
- If you want to keep your current settings just use an ASCII word processor to
- copy the [TakeOne] section from WIN.INI to the new file TAKEONE.INI
-
-
-
-
- Game Setup
- ==========
-
- You can now setup the board to a particular pattern rather than having a game
- chosen at random by TakeOne. You can then save these patterns so that you can
- practice with them again and again. I have included a number of patterns with
- this version of the program :-
-
- Diamond.to
- Arrow.to
- Plus.to
- Pyramid.to
-
-
-
-
- Improved Colour Support
- =======================
-
- Takeone now allows you to 'mix' colours for the various board elements.
- Previously you could only choose from a predefined set of colours. Note that
- depending on your video board, some (most) colour mixes will result in a
- dithered approximation of the colour you want. You can inform TakeOne that
- it should only show the pure colours that your video board can support when
- mixing.
-
- When TakeOne saves the colour information in it now saves the colour
- in RGB format that is a number for the red, green and blue components of the
- colour. For example
-
- LightSquare=255,255,255
-
- Here the red, green and blue are all set to the maximum value of 255 which
- yields the colour white. You can still use the colour names from the old
- version of TakeOne in the .INI file e.g. White, Green etc. but if you
- change a colour in TakeOne it will always be saved in RGB format.
-
-
-
-
- Window State Save
- =================
- When you close TakeOne it now saves the current window coordinates and will
- automatically load at the same place on screen the next time it is run.
